First UU Forever Committee

Because of his love for First UU, John Strauther wanted to provide information about planned giving and financial planning to others who shared his dreams. This committee was formed while he was in the hospital. With his guidance, we were able to take this first step in finding the needs of people who are friends of First UU. Please review the questionnaire found elsewhere in this Newsletter. During coffee hours on February 15 and February 22, members of this committee will be using this form to seek your responses. From your answers we will know what to do next to support you and our church.

Building & Grounds - Article 3

Editors Note. An article for January's newsletter was skipped but will be later publisbed.

It has been a busy last quarter of 2003 for the volunteers of the Building & Grounds Committee. With the generous financial support of our congregation, look at what the volunteers of the committee have accomplished. Below Is only a partial listing since there are many tasks that must be done to keep the building operational for our tenants during weekdays and for our members during the weekend. Even whom a contractor has performed work, a Building & Grounds Committee member still had to be present to let them in, to familiarize them with the building, and to ensure that the work done was of the highest quality. This means that often a Building & Grounds volunteer is with the contractor during the complete time they are here!

There Is still much to be done. Only within the past months has a comprehensive list of every Item needing attention been compiled. The list will be printed in the March newsletter and may be obtained now from a Building & Grounds member. The list contains Important tasks that range from needing no skill to moderate skill level. Building & Grounds Is also seeking recommendations on contractors who have performed quality work for members.

The authors of this article must caution the congregation that there Is much more to do to catch up on years of neglect. Building & Grounds is asking for the help of members who can contribute their skills, no matter how basic. Much was accomplished In only three months, but the current volunteers are reaching the end of what their skills and time will allow. Please call Earl Harvey or Dan Kosmowskl If you would like to volunteer.
